Moving to Te Puna?

This rural community near Tauranga is located in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island. Te Puna Quarry was redeveloped by volunteers into a park.

Te Puna is home to three marae belonging to the Ngāti Ranginui hapū of Pirirākau:

Paparoa Marae and Werahiko meeting house

Poutūterangi Marae and Takurua meeting house, and

Tutereinga Marae and meeting house

Rotorua, Matamata (Hobbiton) and Whakatane are all within an hours drive, and Te Puna is very handy to Mt Maunganui and Tauranga's CBD.

Be sure also to visit Minden Lookout, where on clear days, will provide a panorama of nearly the entire Bay of Plenty. Some days are so clear that you may be able to spot Whaakari steaming away in the distance!
