The town basin houses quayside, a sophisticated, yet leisurely centre for entertainment and eating. Locals, yachties and visitors from all over the world will enjoy the modern landscaping which blends beautifully with colonial architecture.

The suburb of Maunu is where you will find an excellent natural history museum, it also has a Kiwi birdhouse, and there is a native bird recovery centre where birds are nursed back to health.

Be sure to make time to see Whangarei Falls, often called the 'most photogenic waterfall in New Zealand’. on your way to the internationally acclaimed Tutukaka Coast, offering pristine beaches, world-class diving at the Poor Knights Islands and native bush walks.
