My philosophy when it comes to selling real estate is simple: Be honest and try your best to help the vendor achieve their objective.
I’ve been involved in real estate for nearly 30 years, including the last 19 as one of the founding directors of Edinburgh Realty.
My focus is on the lifestyle and rural market. Otago is one region, where you can have it all: work in the middle of the city by day and, within 15 minutes’ drive, be swinging through the gateway of your own “block”.
There’s not a lot of tolerance for long commutes in these parts. No one actually likes sitting in mind-numbing traffic, when they could be home relaxing or doing fun stuff.
I speak from experience, being a lifestyle block owner myself. After helping hundreds of clients buy or sell over the years, I’ve worked out what’s what around Otago – the wee idiosyncrasies of different areas and what to be aware of when living rural.
Knowledge isn’t much fun, if you don’t get to share it.

Life circumstances can steer you in directions you hadn't foreseen. Having found myself in real estate, I can’t imagine why being a lifestyle and rural property consultant hadn't occurred to me earlier.
Born in Ranfurly, my family moved to Lawrence when I was five. I grew up on the family farm and worked around the district until I was 26. I've have maintained a strong connection to the rural scene ever since.
In 1994, my wife, Amy, and I bought the Coach & Horses Tavern in Lawrence and that took care of the next 11 years. That decade taught me how to deal with all sorts of people, under all sorts of circumstances. The stories I could tell you…
We moved to Dunedin in 2005 and purchased the Mornington Tavern. Five years later, I was ready for a change and began a building apprenticeship. This was new ground for me and I loved it. But a knee injury in 2012 spelt the end of my building career. However, it was soon after the injury that the opportunity came up to join the team at Edinburgh Realty, focusing on lifestyle and rural sales.
I am channeling all the skills I've picked up in farming, hospitality and building to become exactly the sort of property consultant I’d want working for me.

I’m known for my open style of communication, approachability and trustworthiness.
I recently returned home after three years in France and – while new to property consultancy – I want my exceptional level of service and commitment to be my trademark. I want people to say: “Jacque sold our property and she ensured we understood what was happening every step of the way. It was a really positive experience.”
I’ve always had an interest in property and property investment (I own two rentals). My background is relationship management, customer service, technical recruitment and business development.
