"I am a retired solicitor who practiced in Auckland for some sixty years. In addition, I traded in real estate. I also was a founder of Gubb & Hardy Limited, a first mortgage lender, until I sold my interest in this company about six years ago. I have as a consequence dealt with numerous real estate agents of vastly different competence and integrity over the years. Last year, the Trust of which I was a trustee needed to sell a property at 8 Pleasant Place, Melons Bay following the death of a friend and fellow trustee. Colleen's son and a fellow trustee, had along with the widower, been in discussion with Mohe Abdo, a local real estate agent with Ray White Limited and they wished him to market the house. At this stage I was a little dubious because I had not met Mr Abdo, also Mr Abdo was recommending sale by auction at a time when the market was slow. I then had a number of telephone discussions and met Mr Abdo and after listening to him agreed, as a result of what he said and outlined to me, that the auction could proceed. He kept me fully informed and up-to-date with the campaign leading up to the auction mentioning finally that at least three people had an interest in the property and would be attending the auction. He considered all three and possibly even a fourth to be genuine buyers. At the auction there were a number of interested parties and two of these competed so that a very satisfactory price was achieved. Mr Abdo is in my opinion in the top percentile of real estate agents that I have dealt with and I consider him to be honest, competent and extremely considerate. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone selling in his area and to solicitors with whom I am acquainted. I am happy to speak to anybody who may want further information. "
